Grocery stores.

Buy $1 of fresh fruits and veggies and get another $1 free the next time you shop. You can get up to $20 a day.

Double Up math.

If you spend $20 of SNAP on fresh fruits and veggies, you get $20 in Double Up Food Bucks. That means you get $20 off the next time you shop.

Grocery coupons.

Some grocery stores give you coupons when you buy fresh fruits and veggies.

You do not get Double Up coupons when using a Double Up coupon to pay for all or part of your purchase. When you shop, split your purchase into two transactions to get the most coupons:

Purchase 1: Buy all the fresh fruits and veggies you can with the Double Up coupons you have.

Purchase 2: Buy the rest of your fresh fruits and veggies with your SNAP/EBT card.

You will get new coupons for the same amount you spent on fruits and veggies in the second purchase, up to $20 a day. Those coupons can be spent on the next shopping trip.

  1. Find the market manager or information booth when you get to the market.
  2. Show them your SNAP (EBT) card and ask for Double Up Food Bucks.
  3. The market manager will tell you how it works.

Tokens.

Some markets use tokens that you can spend at the market.

Double Up math.

If you spend $30 of SNAP, you get an extra $30 in Double Up tokens to buy fresh fruits and veggies. That means spending $30 with SNAP gets you $60 to spend at the market.

Some markets use Double Up Food Bucks cards.

Double Up math.

If you spend $50 of SNAP, you get an extra $50 put on your Double Up Food Bucks card. That means spending $50 with SNAP gets you $100 to spend at the market on fresh fruits and veggies.

Get half off the price of fresh fruits and veggies. You can get up to $50 a day. That means you can buy twice as much when you pay with SNAP. You don’t have to sign up.

Some farms or stores offer a weekly food box or CSA.

Get a free box or pay less for a box when you pay with SNAP.

This is a great way to get fresh fruits and vegetables cheaper from a local farm.
