Double Up Food Bucks NY is easy to use. When you use SNAP to buy fresh fruits and vegetables at some farmers markets or stores, you get extra money to buy even more fruits and veggies.
Every place does it a little differently. Some stores give you coupons. Some use a special card. Farmers markets might give you tokens.
Spending Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) does not get you more DUFB. You only get more DUFB when buying fresh fruits and veggies with your SNAP/EBT card. At grocery stores that use coupons, this means you won’t get more coupons when you use a DUFB coupon to make a purchase, even if you use your SNAP/EBT card during that same purchase. When you shop, split your purchase into two transactions to get the most DUFB coupons:
Purchase 1: Buy all the fresh fruits and veggies you can with the Double Up coupons you have.
Purchase 2: Buy the rest of your fresh fruits and veggies with your SNAP/EBT card. You will get new coupons for the same amount spent on fruits and veggies in the second purchase, up to $20 a day. Those coupons can be spent on the next shopping trip.

Double Up Food Bucks can be used to purchase raw, whole, or sliced fruits and vegetables. You can also buy herbs and vegetable plants.
You can’t buy canned or frozen fruits and vegetables. You can’t buy fruits and vegetables that have sugar, salt, or fats added to them.
The program doesn’t have an end date right now. It gets money from the federal government, New York State, and people who donate. We will keep the program going as long as we have money for it.

It depends on where you are shopping. At stores that use grocery coupons (like Tops, Price Chopper, or Market 32), you must spend at least $1 on your SNAP/EBT card to get Double Up Food Bucks.

Double Up Food Bucks you get through loyalty cards, accounts, and tokens don’t expire.

Some farms sell a weekly box of fresh fruits and vegetables. It might be called a “farm share” or “CSA.” CSA stands for “community supported agriculture.” This means you are supporting a farm by buying a box of their fruits and vegetables.
