DOUBLE UP FOOD BUCKS

A win for families, farmers and communities! Field & Fork Network’s Double Up Food Bucks doubles the value of federal nutrition assistance dollars spent at participating farmers’ markets and mobile markets, helping people bring home more locally grown fruits and vegetables. The wins are three-fold: low-income consumers eat more healthy foods, local farmers gain new customers and make more money, and more food dollars stay in the local economy.

HISTORY

Field & Fork Network is a non-profit organization serving Western New York. Their mission is to build a thriving regional food system that serves everyone in our community. In 2014, Field & Fork Network introduced Double Up Food Bucks to area farmers markets as a way to increase access to affordable fresh locally grown food.

Double Up has been at the forefront of innovations in healthy food incentives, and Field & Fork Network is proud to partner with Fair Food Network implementing the Double Up model. The program’s uniform design, central administration, and local implementation has proven to be successful in rural and urban communities alike. The program is rooted in partnerships—both with local partners and key regional efforts.
